War of the Roses Improv

My long-time friend and accomplice Andrew Young and I created an improv team which performs alternate history based on a suggestion from the audience.

Recently in New York we asked the audience for a prompt by requesting an event or person that people enjoyed studying in high school. Two people simultaneously shouted “War of the Roses!” I had no idea that particular conflict was so popular. Young and I came up with a scene where two soldiers show up late to the Battle of Bosworth Field.

If you haven’t seen improv before, it’s a theatrical medium in which performers make everything up on the spot. That should largely account for why we occasionally wander off topic, and also why I’m speaking in some combination of a bad Australian accent and a Michael Cain impression.
